Yamaha YPG-235 Review

5But it is a lot of fun in its own right

I bought this because I had a finger injury and couldn't play my piano. This requires less force so I could still play it.
But it is a lot of fun in its own right. For example: you can make the right hand sound like a saxophone and the left hand
sound (sort of) like a string bass. Then with two fingers you can sound pretty good. The saxophone even has vibrato.
The thing has a lot of features I haven't used yet, especially involving connecting it to a computer. The manual is
very thick and informative, to use all those features I will have to read it carefully. I did buy the extra $20 sustain pedal too.
The thing sounds good and no doubt would sound better connected to an amp and some decent speakers, but it sounds
surprisingly good right out of the box. And the price! It's worth much more than I paid.

Great keyboard, useless accessories.

Just got this as a gift for my daughter the keyboard seems great and just as described.
However, the stand is pretty useless. it's flimsy and doesn't attach to the keyboard.
The headphones are low quality, won't stay adjusted properly and probably won't last long.
Don't buy the packaged version just get the keyboard and find better quality accessories.

Happy with my new keyboard!

I've not yet tried the USB upload to computer (because this cord must be purchased separately) , but I easily learned my way around keyboard functions to write tracks and record up to five samples, 4 tracks each. Not much time to study the instruction booklet, so I just dove in. Was VERY surprised to find my portable grand arrived with power supply cord AND a stand, within the box! I had ordered the survival kit accessory kit and a stand thinking I'd need both. I understand an extended warranty comes in the survival kit, and some folks may want that. Amazing variety of sounds/voices/effects, realistic, too!!, flute, trumpet, guitar, marimba, steel drums, all sounding lifelike . What I feel personally is not needed was all the demos that are preloaded, as they always are. When recording I have to skip track #one, and disable accompaniment key , leaving only 4 tracks available, it seems. I bought this specifically so I could make multi track recordings and load them to my computer. Very pleased, especially with the cost. Hopefully my feedback will enlighten other shoppers, the power supply is in the box in my case anyway. Also, I really LIKE the touch, not a piano key, but it does have resistance and spring back, feeling must like an electric piano does, but not an acoustic piano. Really a good quality unit for the money. Going to run it through an amp to check that for sound, but the keyboard speakers are nice as they are, sound good.
